The House of Representatives is in mourning following the sudden demise of Hon. Olaide Adewale Akinremi, affectionately known as Jagaban, who represented Ibadan North Federal Constituency under the All Progressives Congress (APC). The announcement was made today by the House spokesperson, Hon. Akin Rotimi, who described Hon. Akinremi as a distinguished member of the 10th Assembly and Chairman of the House Committee on Science Research Institutions.
Hon. Akinremi passed away early this morning at the age of 51 after a brief illness. Known for his unwavering dedication to his constituency and the nation, he earned the title ‘Jagaban’ due to his passion for public service and deep understanding of community needs.
“He was a staunch advocate for policies promoting social welfare, economic growth, and scientific research,” the statement from the House spokesperson read. “His contributions to legislative debates and committee activities exemplified his dedication and hard work.”
Speaker of the House, Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, expressed deep sadness over the loss, highlighting Hon. Akinremi’s invaluable contributions, particularly in advancing scientific research through legislative efforts. “His passing is a great loss to the House, his constituency, and the nation. We will miss his leadership, wisdom, and the unique passion he brought to his work,” Speaker Tajudeen remarked.
The House of Representatives extended heartfelt condolences to the Akinremi family, the Ibadan North Federal Constituency, the Government and People of Oyo State, and the APC family. Hon. Akinremi’s legacy as a grassroots politician and astute statesman will continue to inspire future leaders.
