The Oyo State Government has denied speculation that the Bola Ige International Business Complex, Gbagi, Ibadan, would be shut down on Monday.
Commissioner for Investment, Trade, Cooperatives, and Industry, Adeniyi Adebisi, in a statement on Sunday, described the reports as false and aimed at causing panic within the business community.
“The rumour is baseless and a deliberate attempt by miscreants to create unnecessary tension. At no time did government contemplate shutting down the Bola Ige International Business Complex, which remains a hub of commercial activity in the state,” Adebisi said.
He urged traders and the public to disregard the misinformation and assured that business operations at the complex would continue unhindered.
The commissioner added that government was committed to safeguarding the interests of all categories of traders and ensuring a conducive environment for legitimate business activities.
Also, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Olajide Okesade, said adequate security measures had been put in place to maintain peace and order at the market.
“There will be no closure of the complex on Monday. The rumour is unfounded, and everyone should go about their normal business without fear,” Okesade stated.
The government reaffirmed its commitment to protecting traders’ interests and sustaining the smooth running of all markets and business complexes across the state.
