Ibadan, July 10, 2025 — The Oyo State Government has approved the appointment of 116 new staff members across multiple professional cadres to address staffing gaps at the Oyo State College of Nursing and Midwifery, Eleyele, Ibadan.
In addition, the government has confirmed the appointments of four principal officers into substantive positions. These include the Registrar, Librarian, Bursar, and Director of Works.
The development was announced on Thursday by the Provost of the College, Dr. Gbonjubola Owolabi, during a ceremony to mark the donation of furniture by the college’s 1976–79 alumni set.
According to Owolabi, the newly approved positions cover a wide range of administrative, academic, technical, and support roles, including legal advisors, senior lecturers, sickbay nurses, general nursing science lecturers, and administrative officers.
Other approved roles include higher executive officers, store officers, assistant executive officers, computer analysts, higher technical officers, motor drivers, craftsmen, and clerical officers.
The provost praised Governor Seyi Makinde for what she described as “unwavering support” for the college’s growth and development. She noted that the additional staff and resources were critical, especially in light of the institution’s rising student population.
“The approval of new appointments is a significant boost to our academic and administrative capacity. It demonstrates the governor’s commitment to quality healthcare education and institutional development,” Owolabi stated.
She also expressed appreciation to the alumni for their donation of furniture, which she said would help accommodate the growing number of students.
