In a visit to Terra Kulture in Lagos, the Oniru of Iruland, Oba Abdulwasiu Omogbolahan Lawal, Abisogun II, praised the institution for its significant contributions to cultural development, youth empowerment, and economic growth. The visit, which took place on Monday, was part of a series of engagements leading up to his fifth coronation anniversary, set for June 7, 2025.
According to a statement released on Wednesday, the monarch noted that the visit was aimed at recognizing institutions that align with Iruland’s development vision, known as #LeGIT (Let’s Grow Iru Together). Oba Lawal emphasized that the #LeGIT agenda focuses on eight key areas: tourism and culture, education and empowerment, healthcare, environment, security, welfare, infrastructure, and stakeholder engagement.
“We recognize the impact that institutions such as Terra Kulture are making, not just within Iruland, but in Lagos and across the country,” Oba Lawal said. “This visit is to acknowledge and strengthen that relationship.”
The Oniru described the visit as a symbolic gesture of royal appreciation and validation of Terra Kulture’s efforts in promoting cultural awareness and preserving Nigeria’s heritage.
In response, Terra Kulture’s founder and CEO, Bolanle Austen-Peters, expressed gratitude for the recognition. She highlighted the growing importance of the arts as a source of employment and national identity, emphasizing the cultural institution’s role in fostering these values.
