The former Governor of Oyo State and Olubadan-designate, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, has arrived in Ibadan, the state capital, ahead of formal processes to confirm his ascension to the throne.
Ladoja, who has been unanimously nominated as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, was received at his family house in Isale-Osi, Ibadan South-East Local Government Area, on Monday. He is expected to proceed later to his private residence at Ondo Street, Bodija, in Ibadan North Local Government Area.
Confirming his arrival, the media aide to the monarch, Adeola Oloko, said, “The 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Ladoja, is in town right now. He is at Isale-Osi. From here, we are moving to his house at Bodija.”
The PUNCH recalls that members of the Olubadan-in-Council had on April 4, 2025, unanimously nominated and approved Ladoja as successor to the late 43rd Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, following a 21-day mourning period.
Although the Olubadan-designate was not present at the council’s meeting, the formal confirmation of his ascension now awaits the ratification of Governor Seyi Makinde, who will also set a date for the presentation of the staff of office.
