The Ogun State Internal Revenue Service (OGIRS) has commended Dangote Cement’s Ibese Plant for its outstanding tax compliance and consistent ranking as the state’s highest-paying industrial taxpayer.
The commendation came during a courtesy visit to the 12 million metric tonnes per annum (12mmtp) plant in Ibese, led by OGIRS Director of Field Operations, Mrs. Oluwaseun Olajube, alongside other agency officials.
Mrs. Olajube lauded the cement company’s management for their dedication to fulfilling civic obligations, describing Dangote Cement as a benchmark for corporate responsibility, financial transparency, and good governance. She further emphasised the agency’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with key industrial stakeholders to drive sustainable economic growth and revenue generation.
“Dangote Cement Ibese Plant must continue to demonstrate excellence in tax compliance. We are proud to acknowledge their contribution to the economic development of our state,” Mrs. Olajube said, urging the company to maintain timely documentation and enhanced cooperation with the Yewa North Zonal Office of OGIRS.
Receiving the OGIRS team, Plant Director Mr. Ayyagari Subbaraidu expressed appreciation for the recognition, noting that the commendation reflects not just the company’s financial contributions but also its leadership, integrity, and responsible corporate citizenship.
“We recognise that tax revenue is the backbone of state economic development and remain committed to compliance, accountability, and transparency in all engagements with government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies,” Subbaraidu said.
The visit underscores the importance of public-private sector collaboration in driving sustainable revenue generation and supporting infrastructure development in Ogun State.
Dangote Industries Limited (DIL), the parent company, reported paying over N402 billion in taxes in 2024, making it the highest taxpayer in Nigeria. The company has also been recognised as Nigeria’s most tax-compliant business organisation and awarded by FMDQ for being the most active corporate entity in the foreign exchange market, reflecting its commitment to fiscal responsibility and transparency.
