Oando Plc has confirmed the occurrence of four operational oil spills between October 2024 and May 2025 along its pipeline network in Bayelsa State. The company, which acquired Nigeria Agip Oil Company, also announced the completion of repair works on the affected sections of the pipeline.
The disclosure was made in a statement issued on Tuesday by Oando’s spokesperson, Mrs. Alero Balogun, who is also the General Manager, Human Resources & Business Support at Oando Group.
The statement followed a recent oil spill reported on May 3 around the Ogboinbiri flow station in the swamps of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area. The station is a critical part of the crude supply network to Oando’s export terminal in Brass, Bayelsa State.
“Oando Plc announces the successful completion of repairs to its pipeline following oil spill incidents along the NEPL/Oando pipeline, which affected the Ogboinbiri Community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area,” Balogun stated.
She added that, in addition to repairing the ruptured segments, the company is actively replacing aging sections of the pipeline to prevent future incidents.
The company reiterated its commitment to maintaining safe operations and minimizing environmental impact, as part of its broader strategy to improve infrastructure integrity across its assets.
