Nigeria has recorded another milestone in international policing as Commissioner of Police (CP) Olubode Ojajuni has been elected into the INTERPOL Africa Committee.
Ojajuni’s election took place during the 27th African Regional Conference of INTERPOL held in Cape Town, South Africa.
The Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, announced the development in a statement on Friday, noting that the appointment secured Nigeria its fifth seat on the committee, with Ojajuni expected to serve a two-year tenure.
The INTERPOL Africa Committee plays a critical role in advising the Regional Conference, guiding sessions, and identifying strategic crime priorities. It also fosters cross-border police cooperation, strengthens security frameworks, and promotes initiatives to combat transnational crime, terrorism, and emerging threats.
“The achievement reflects Nigeria’s growing influence and leadership in global law enforcement matters,” Adejobi stated.
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, congratulated Ojajuni and reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to professionalism and international collaboration.
“The Nigeria Police will sustain active engagement with global partners to promote peace and security worldwide,” the IGP assured.
Ojajuni, a former Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, was promoted to the rank of Commissioner of Police by the Police Service Commission in March 2025. He previously served as Deputy Commissioner in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Ogun State, and as Area Commander, Area A Command, Lion Building, Lagos. He also worked as Principal Officer 3 to former IGP Ibrahim Idris.
