The Lagos State Government has announced the commencement of its stakeholders’ consultative fora for the 2026 budget, scheduled to hold across the state’s five divisions from September 9 to 16, 2025.
The exercise, according to the Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Ope George, is designed to give residents an opportunity to shape the state’s developmental priorities for the coming year.
In a statement on Friday, George described the consultative sessions as “a cornerstone of the state’s budgetary process,” stressing that citizens’ voices must remain central to governance.
“The fora will bring together a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including community development associations, traditional rulers, professional and religious bodies, civil society groups, trade organisations, youths, and people living with disabilities,” George said.
He added that the inclusive process reflects the state government’s commitment to participatory governance and evidence-based planning.
The consultative meetings will take place in Ikeja, Lagos Island, Ikorodu, Epe, and Badagry, while provisions have also been made for virtual participation. Interested residents are encouraged to register by sending an email indicating their division.
The government noted that inputs from the sessions would help frame the 2026 budget and advance its vision of building Lagos into a competitive 21st-century economy.
