The Iyaloja-General of Nigeria and daughter of President Bola Tinubu, Folasade Tinubu-Ojo, has called on Lagos residents to actively participate in the ongoing local government elections, urging citizens to shun voter apathy and embrace grassroots democracy.
Tinubu-Ojo made the appeal shortly after casting her vote at Polling Unit 022, Ward 7, Alausa, Ikeja, on Saturday at exactly 11:23 a.m.
Speaking with journalists at the polling centre, she expressed confidence in the electoral process, describing it as “transparent and effective.”
“I am 100% confident in the process because it is transparent. The current chairman has done very well, and if the incumbent has performed, we should believe that the next person can do even better,” she said.
She stressed the importance of citizen participation in shaping local governance, noting that local council elections directly affect communities and should not be overlooked.
The local government poll is taking place across Lagos State’s 20 local government areas and 37 local council development areas, with residents voting to elect new chairpersons and councillors.
