The Lagos State Government has disbursed a total of N2.46 billion to 8,690 vulnerable residents through the Sanwo-Olu Listens Financial Assistance Programme, an official said on Thursday.
Speaking at the 2025 Lagos State Ministerial Press Briefing held in Ikeja, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement, Dr. Afolabi Tajudeen, highlighted the initiative as part of activities marking Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s second year in office during his second term.
Dr. Afolabi noted that the financial assistance programme, launched in 2020, was established to support residents facing economic hardship, including challenges with medical bills, rent, education, and sustaining small businesses.
“This initiative not only provides direct financial relief but also embodies the government’s enduring commitment to compassion, inclusivity, and economic empowerment,” he said.
He described the programme as a “beacon of hope,” reinforcing the administration’s commitment that “no one should be left behind.”
Afolabi further revealed that an additional N1.6 billion would be disbursed within the next two weeks to about 1,000 beneficiaries as part of a Sallah palliative package.
“This Sallah palliative is part of our broader effort to ease the financial burden on our most disadvantaged citizens during festive periods,” he explained.
He emphasized that the Sanwo-Olu Listens social intervention initiative is ongoing and remains a cornerstone of the state’s support for its most vulnerable residents.
