The Lagos State Government has announced the successful delivery of 9,970 housing units over the past six years, as part of its sustained efforts to address the state’s housing deficit and promote affordable home ownership for residents.
The state Commissioner for Housing, Moruf Akinderu-Fatai, disclosed this on Tuesday during the 2025 Lagos State Ministerial Press Briefing held in Alausa, Ikeja.
Akinderu-Fatai highlighted the government’s commitment to providing decent and affordable housing, particularly for low- and middle-income earners. He noted that the housing projects were strategically distributed across the state to ensure wide accessibility.
“We have commissioned and handed over 18 housing estates across key locations, including Sangotedo, Igbogbo, Epe, Odo-Onosa Ayandelu, Badagry, and Igando,” the commissioner said.
He added that an additional 4,052 housing units are currently under construction, with another 2,224 units at various stages of planning and design.
The commissioner reaffirmed the Sanwo-Olu administration’s resolve to expand the housing sector through public-private partnerships and innovative financing models to meet the growing demand for affordable homes in Lagos.
