The Kwara State Government has announced steady improvements in the 2025 placement examination, with both participation and performance showing marked growth compared to previous years.
The Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, released the results on Monday on behalf of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
According to the commissioner, the number of candidates rose by 3.09 per cent—from 62,031 in 2024 to 63,950 in 2025—reflecting a growing demand for public education and the impact of state-led reforms across schools.
Performance levels also recorded significant gains. The overall pass rate climbed to 83.21 per cent in 2025, up from 73.98 per cent in 2024 and 66.99 per cent in 2019. Olohungbebe described the outcome as the strongest within the review period.
At the subject level, Mathematics recorded a 72.86 per cent pass rate in 2025, up from 67.00 per cent in 2024. English improved to 74.61 per cent (from 73.00 per cent), while General Studies jumped to 85.30 per cent (from 78.00 per cent).
Governor AbdulRazaq, in his remarks, said the results reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening public education.
“The encouraging results from both the placement and BECE examinations reaffirm our administration’s commitment to strengthening public education. We are proud of the steady progress and will continue to invest in teaching, learning, and infrastructure so that every Kwara child has a fair chance to succeed,” he said.
The commissioner further noted that the improvements align with the state’s 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) performance, where students also posted stronger results across subjects.
Olohungbebe commended teachers, school leaders, parents, and learners for their contributions, urging them to sustain the momentum.
