Jonathan Pays Condolence Visit to Buhari’s Family in London, Meets FG Delegation
London, July 15, 2025 — Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan paid a condolence visit to the family of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari in London on Monday evening, joining a growing list of sympathisers mourning the passing of the elder statesman.
During his visit, Jonathan expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, offering prayers for the repose of the former President’s soul. “May Allah forgive the shortcomings of late President Buhari and grant him Aljannah Firdaus,” the former President prayed.
Following the visit to the Buhari residence, Jonathan proceeded to the Nigerian House in London, where he met with key members of the Federal Government delegation who are in the United Kingdom to coordinate the repatriation of President Buhari’s remains for burial in Nigeria.
Among those he met were Vice President Kashim Shettima, Chief of Staff to the President Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar.
President Buhari’s death, announced over the weekend, has drawn tributes from across the political, religious, and diplomatic spectrum, with many praising his service to the nation and steadfastness in public life. His remains are expected to arrive Nigeria later this week for burial rites in accordance with Islamic traditions.
