The death of Alanis Ogundipe, a 26-year-old British-Nigerian accountant, has ignited a complex dispute involving allegations of blackmail, premature cremation, and potential evidence tampering. Alanis reportedly died by suicide on May 29, 2023, after jumping into a moving train in Manchester, UK, an act her father claims was provoked by her boyfriend, Ryan Leggetts, who allegedly blackmailed her with private information he had stolen.

Oladapo Ogundipe, Alanis’ father, has voiced serious concerns regarding the circumstances surrounding his daughter’s death and the subsequent handling of her remains. He claims that his wife, Josephine Ogundipe, pressured him into cremating their daughter’s body before a thorough forensic autopsy could be conducted, a move he believes was intended to destroy evidence.

The initial autopsy conducted on Alanis did not reveal any suspicious findings. However, Oladapo remains adamant that the cremation was rushed and unnecessary, questioning the motives behind it. He told PUNCH Metro, “Where is Alanis’ grave? If there is no grave, what was the point in hurrying the cremation of her body before any forensic post-mortem could take place?”

The situation was further complicated during a coroner’s inquest held earlier this month, where Oladapo alleges that the family lawyer, acting under Josephine’s instruction, barred him from questioning Ryan Leggetts about the events leading up to Alanis’ death. This restriction, he argues, is part of a broader conspiracy to obstruct justice.

Adding to the layers of accusation, Oladapo contends that from August 2022, Ryan inflicted emotional and psychological harm on Alanis, culminating in her untimely death after he allegedly stole sensitive personal and financial information from her phone. Oladapo has now called for the UK authorities to reopen the case and conduct a comprehensive investigation into his allegations of murder and manslaughter against Ryan.

As this case unfolds, the community and broader public await responses from the UK police and the involved parties. The Ogundipe family remains divided and in turmoil as the pursuit of truth and justice continues to unfold in a complex legal and emotional landscape.

Josephine Ogundipe has not responded to attempts to contact her regarding her husband’s allegations. As the investigation progresses, the truth behind Alanis Ogundipe’s tragic death and the motives of those closest to her remains shrouded in mystery and contention.
