Abuja, September 10, 2025 — The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has formally recognised the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) under the chairmanship of former Senate President David Mark.
The confirmation, published on INEC’s official website and sighted on Wednesday, follows the party’s internal restructuring exercise aimed at repositioning the ADC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
INEC’s updated list of national officers includes:
- David Mark — Interim National Chairman
- Rauf Aregbesola, former Osun State Governor — National Secretary
- Oserheimen Osunbor, former Edo State Governor — National Legal Adviser
- Ibrahim Mani — National Treasurer
- Akibu Dalhatu — National Financial Secretary
The development comes after an opposition coalition, comprising several high-profile politicians, formally adopted the ADC as its platform on July 2, 2025, with the intention of fielding candidates for the presidential and other elections in 2027.
Party officials have described the restructuring and INEC’s recognition as a major step towards building a formidable opposition force capable of challenging the ruling party in the next election cycle.
