The Ijesa community at home and in the Diaspora today rolled out the drums in celebration of one of its illustrious sons, Bobaseye Akinyemi Olusegun Fasakin, on the occasion of his 61st birthday.
In a congratulatory message issued by Asiwaju Olayinka Fasuyi, the Asiwaju of Ijesaland and Chairman of the Ijesa Community Development Assembly (ICDA), Bobaseye Fasakin was described as a “distinguished professional, exemplary leader, and a fearless advocate of truth whose life embodies the values of integrity, service, and excellence.”
According to the statement, attaining the age of 61 is not only a milestone in years but also a testament to a lifetime of remarkable achievements, unwavering principles, and lasting contributions to family, community, and Ijesaland.
Born into humble beginnings, Bobaseye Fasakin rose to prominence through resilience, hard work, and vision. Over the years, he has earned respect as a leader whose integrity commands admiration and whose commitment to the advancement of Ijesaland remains unquestionable.
The ICDA noted that as a prominent Ijesa Community Ambassador in the Diaspora, Fasakin has consistently defended Ijesa interests across the globe, often using his pen as a courageous writer to promote truth and the good of his homeland.
His role as one of the key facilitators of the hugely successful first Iwude Ijesa Unity Carnival in December 2024 in Ilesa was also highlighted. The cultural event, which drew participation from Ijesas worldwide, has since been regarded as a legacy initiative that strengthened pride, heritage, and unity across the community.
“Through your generosity, patriotism, and unwavering commitment to communal development, you have become a true advocate of progress in Ijesaland, lifting others and paving the way for collective growth,” the statement read.
As he clocks 61, Bobaseye Fasakin is being celebrated as a symbol of wisdom, custodian of culture, and beacon of hope for future generations.
“May this new chapter bring you unprecedented joy, sound health, divine grace, and the fulfillment of every noble dream,” Asiwaju Fasuyi prayed on behalf of the ICDA and the entire Ijesa nation.
The birthday message concluded with warm congratulations to Bobaseye Fasakin, describing his life as “a gift to all who know him.”
