The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE), Professor Ezekiel Agbalagba, has extended warm felicitations to His Majesty, Orhue I, Major General Felix Mujakperuo (retd), Orodje of Okpe Kingdom, on the occasion of his 19th coronation anniversary.
In a goodwill message issued on behalf of the university’s Governing Council, Senate, staff, and students, and made available to journalists in Warri on Thursday, Professor Agbalagba lauded the monarch’s reign as “a beacon of visionary leadership, enduring wisdom, and meaningful national impact.”
The Vice-Chancellor commended the traditional ruler, who also serves as the current Chairman of the Delta State Traditional Rulers Council, for his unwavering support and strong advocacy for the university. He acknowledged that the Orodje’s contributions have been instrumental to FUPRE’s growth and its emergence as Nigeria’s foremost petroleum-focused tertiary institution.
“His Majesty’s consistent encouragement and guidance have played a pivotal role in shaping our institutional identity and strategic direction,” the statement read.
Established in 2007, FUPRE is Africa’s first petroleum university, with a focus on advancing excellence in energy education, research, and innovation. The institution reaffirmed its commitment to contributing to Nigeria’s national development through strategic partnerships, academic leadership, and community engagement.
The university’s message comes amid celebrations in Okpe Kingdom, marking nearly two decades of transformative and unifying traditional leadership under Orhue I.
