LIVERPOOL – Dominik Szoboszlai struck late at Anfield on Sunday to hand Liverpool a narrow 1-0 win over Arsenal in a fiercely contested Premier League clash.
The Hungarian midfielder broke the deadlock in the 83rd minute with a thunderous long-range free kick that sailed past Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya, securing a vital three points for Arne Slot’s side.
The game had been evenly poised, with both teams struggling to carve out clear openings. Liverpool thought they had taken the lead earlier when Hugo Ekitike found the net, but his effort was ruled out for offside.
Arsenal, missing key players including Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus, and Kai Havertz, suffered an early blow as defender William Saliba limped off after just four minutes. Despite enjoying spells of possession, Mikel Arteta’s men failed to trouble Liverpool’s defence meaningfully.
The result extends Liverpool’s impressive home form and strengthens their push near the top of the table. Arsenal, meanwhile, left Anfield empty-handed once again, continuing their winless run at the ground since 2012 and piling pressure on their bid for consistency in the title race.
