Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has confirmed she was recently questioned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged currency abuse during her daughter’s wedding ceremony.
The actress, popularly known as the Queen Mother, revealed on Tuesday via her Instagram page that she honoured an official EFCC invitation on May 5, 2025, after returning from a trip to the United Kingdom.
Ojo stated that during her visit to the commission’s office, she was interrogated on various aspects of her personal and professional life, including the high-profile wedding of her daughter.
“They asked several questions relating to my bio data, career, work experience, and business operations,” she wrote.
She added that EFCC officials presented video evidence showing guests at the wedding spraying naira and foreign currencies—an act considered a violation of Nigeria’s currency laws.
The development comes amid the EFCC’s renewed crackdown on currency abuse at public functions, particularly the spraying and mishandling of the naira, which the commission has deemed unlawful under existing regulations.
