In the heart of Alimosho, where tradition meets the promise of a vibrant future, history was made on a day bathed in splendour and joy. The ancient Isheri Olofin Kingdom, famed for its rich cultural heritage and age-old values, witnessed a momentous occasion — the coronation of a remarkable daughter of the soil, Chief Mariam Hamzat Omotunde, as the Sigbaaje of the kingdom.
It was under the royal auspices of His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr. Ibrahim Olasunkanmi Ayinde Lawal Bello, Olanwa 1, the Onisheri of Isheri Olofin, that this honour was bestowed. The air was filled with the sounds of the talking drum, chants of praise singers, and the joyful ululations of women who knew that on this day, a worthy one had been called to serve. The palace grounds brimmed with dignitaries, indigenes, and well-wishers, all gathered to celebrate the emergence of an illustrious daughter into the noble circle of the chieftaincy.
Chief Mariam Hamzat Omotunde, a woman of grace, substance, and growing repute in business and community development, stood tall as the royal beads were draped upon her neck and the symbolic staff of office placed in her hands. Her eyes reflected humility and deep gratitude, knowing that this was more than a title — it was a call to duty, a charge to uphold the values of Isheri, to protect its customs, and to contribute to its advancement.
The Onisheri, in his wisdom, described her as a shining light among the daughters of Isheri — a beacon of enterprise, character, and generosity. He reminded all gathered that the Sigbaaje is not merely a title, but a revered position of responsibility: to serve as a bridge between the palace and the people, a custodian of culture, and an advocate for progress.
As the sun cast its golden glow over Isheri Olofin, the drums spoke the language of unity, pride, and hope. Children danced, elders blessed, and the kingdom rejoiced at this new chapter in its storied journey. The Lagosian joins all in wishing Chief Mariam Hamzat Omotunde a tenure filled with wisdom, impactful service, and enduring legacy.
Òye a mori o!
May your reign as Sigbaaje bring honour and prosperity to Isheri Olofin.
