Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife, a distinguished figure in Nigerian politics and former Governor of Anambra State, breathed his last on Thursday in Abuja, succumbing to an undisclosed illness.

The news of his passing was confirmed by a statement issued by the Ezeife family, signed by Chief Rob Ezeife.
The statement, emanating from the Ezeife Dynasty of Igbo-Ukwu, paid tribute to the late statesman’s illustrious career.

Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife held various significant roles in the political landscape of Nigeria, serving as a Federal Permanent Secretary, the inaugural Executive Governor of Anambra State, and donning the mantle of Political Adviser to the President. His aspirations even led him to contest the presidency at one point.

The family’s message revealed that the unfortunate incident occurred at 6 pm on the previous day at the Federal Medical Centre in Abuja. While the precise details of the ailment remain undisclosed, the family expressed their gratitude for the outpouring of condolences and assured that further information, including arrangements for the state burial, would be communicated in due course.
