In a tragic turn of events, Governor Akeredolu of Ondo State has been reported dead in Lagos on Wednesday. The 67-year-old governor, who recently returned from a three-month medical leave in Germany, passed away under the care of State House doctors.

Despite efforts to seek medical attention abroad, sources reveal that Governor Akeredolu’s health deteriorated, leading to his demise. Last week, there were frantic attempts to locate dialysis machines for the ailing governor at his undisclosed location in Lagos.

The late governor had previously handed over power to his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, following a directive from President Bola Tinubu during a recent medical leave. Akeredolu’s return to Nigeria in September marked the beginning of health challenges that eventually led to his untimely death.

As Ondo State grapples with the loss of its leader, Deputy Governor Aiyedatiwa has assumed the role of acting governor, taking charge of the state’s affairs during this difficult time. The passing of Governor Akeredolu leaves a void in the political landscape, and condolences pour in from across the nation.
