Ibadan, June 26, 2025 — Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has announced the renaming of The Polytechnic, Ibadan in honour of the late elder statesman and former governor of the old Oyo State, Dr. Omololu Olunloyo.
Makinde made the declaration on Thursday during a brief address at the interdenominational commendation service held in honour of the late Olunloyo at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Ibadan.
“In recognition of his legacy and outstanding contributions to our state and nation, The Polytechnic, Ibadan will henceforth be known as Omololu Olunloyo Polytechnic, Ibadan,” Governor Makinde stated.
Dr. Olunloyo, renowned for his intellect and public service, was governor of the old Oyo State in the Second Republic and remained an influential figure in Nigerian politics and education.
The renaming marks a significant tribute to his memory and impact on the state’s development.
