There are indications that a part of the Nigeria’s 60th anniversary logo launched recently by President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday might have been plagiarized by those contracted to designed it.
The logo, investigation reveals, has a striking resemblance of that of a Russian gold mine which experts contend may lead to a huge copyright row involving Nigeria and certain international copyright owners.
Tongues are already wagging about this and many other alleged copyright faux pas committed in the past by agents of government who were reportedly paid huge sums of money only to present the nation with what are at best monumental copyright albatrosses. People are already calling on the government to take urgent action before the Anniversary logo becomes another monumental embarrassment for the nation.
Observers are pointing at similar situations where the current government officials have been accused of plagiarism, namely a speech delivered by President Muhammadu Buhari years back which was allegedly plagiarized from a speech and a campaign launched by the Ministry of information under Alhaji Lai Mohammed which was also an alleged subject of plagiarism among others.
The nation awaits the reaction of the Presidency to this present emerging copyright scandal.
