Abuja, July 1, 2025 — The Federal Ministry of Aviation has initiated high-level consultations with the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) as part of preparations for the forthcoming Nigeria Airshow, with the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, leading a delegation to NAF headquarters.
The visit, confirmed in a statement signed by Odutayo Oluseyi, Head of Press and Public Affairs at the Ministry of Aviation, was aimed at strengthening collaboration with the military to ensure a successful hosting of the international aviation event.
Dr. Kana expressed appreciation for the professionalism consistently displayed by the Air Force and emphasised the importance of integrating NAF’s experience and assets into the airshow. He noted that globally, airshows comprise both civil and military elements, underscoring the strategic importance of NAF’s participation.
He outlined specific expectations from the Air Force, including a “spectacular air display to showcase Nigeria’s air power” and a ceremonial parade for the President and visiting dignitaries.
The Permanent Secretary also extended an invitation to the Chief of Air Staff to attend an upcoming diplomatic meeting involving ambassadors to Nigeria, being coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to Kana, the Ministry has already secured commitments from foreign airline operators and other aviation stakeholders who have pledged full cooperation with the Airshow.
A newly established planning committee has also been tasked with selecting a suitable venue and mobilising key stakeholders to ensure the event’s success.
