Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu made the declaraction on Thursday while briefing the public on COVID-19 measures in the state. According to the Governor, mosques will reopen from June 19, while churches will follow suit as from June 21. In a chat with journalists on Tuesday, Anofiu Elegushi, Commissioner for Home Affairs, explained that reopening worship centres was being put off for now because the state remained the hub of the coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria. Governor Bello Mohammed (Matawallen Maradun) has approved the establishment of Community Police under the supervision of the Nigeria Police in the state. The new body will compose of volunteers from across the 14 Local Government Areas of the state to be trained by the Nigeria Police under the Polce Community Relations arrangement. The immediate-past managing director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Maikanti Baru, is dead. He passed at the age of 60. Baru’s death was confirmed in a current tweet by his successor the incumbent GMD of the corporation, Mele Kyari, indicating that he died last night.
