The Nigerian Senate at its plenary session today voted unanimously against the nomination of Presidential aide, Lauretta Onochie as a National Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission. In his submission, Chairman of the Committee, Kabiru Gaya, insisted that Lauretta did not fulfil the requirements of the Federal Character Principles. The Senate Committee subsequently struck out her nomination.

At a Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos headed by Justice I. Nicholas Oweibo, the trial case of internet fraud of Afeez Fashola also known as Naira Marley, the court ruled that the court be adjourned till October 5, 2021.
