A truck driver has been rewarded for his bravery in the face of intimidation by the police and some soldiers after his tyre was shot by a soldier. The incident happened on Thursday at the border town between Benue and Nsukka, Enugu. A soldier had shot the tyre of a petrol tanker because the driver wouldn’t give him bribe. An Ethiopian Airlines jet has crashed shortly after take-off from Addis Ababa, killing all on board. The pilot of a Nairobi-bound Boeing 737 that crashed six minutes after takeoff from Addis Ababa on Sunday, had alerted controllers “he had difficulties” and wanted to turn back the plane carrying 157 people, the head of Ethiopian Airlines said.
