Strong speculations were rife last night with the surprise visit of the PDP Presidential Candidate Atiku Abubakar GCFR to Washington DC.
Prior to this surprise visit by Atiku, accompanied by prominent members of the opposition PDP including Senate President Sà rà kà and popular Senator Ben Murray Bruce, there had been insinuations that the candidate was afraid to travel to the States for the fear of being detained by the Americans for yet uncertain reasons.
The visit yesterday put to rest that line and perhaps set in motion another series of permutations from both sides of tree tree political divide.
Last night, speculations took the whole social media sphere that this visit, especially the fact that Atiku is lodging and holding meetings at the world famous Trump International Hotel owned by the American President, might be a pointer to American interest in the Atiku candidature and eroding faith in the opposition candidate and incumbent President.
Others are however of the opinion that even though this visit, despite the opposition hues and cries about its impossibility prior to yesterday, strengthens Atiku’s standing, the Americans remain neutral in a contest that is getting more interesting by the day.
