Abuja, July 1, 2025 — Troops of Operation Fasin Yamma have killed a notorious terrorist kingpin, Yellow Danbokkolo, during a major military operation in Sokoto State, the Defence Headquarters announced on Tuesday.
The operation, carried out over the past week in the eastern axis of Sokoto, was executed in collaboration with hybrid forces, air components, and other security agencies. It was based on actionable intelligence tracking the movement of fleeing bandits and terrorists across the North-West.
Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, confirmed the development in a statement released in Abuja.
“During the encounter, a notorious terrorist kingpin, known as Yellow Danbokkolo, who for years has devastated residents of Eastern Sokoto, suffered serious gunshot wounds,” Kangye said.
He added that the terrorist leader succumbed to his injuries on Monday after a fierce exchange of gunfire with troops.
Danbokkolo was reportedly responsible for numerous attacks, kidnappings, and killings in the region and had been on the military’s radar for years. His death is being hailed as a significant blow to terrorist activities in the area.
The military assured residents of continued operations to dismantle criminal networks and restore lasting peace across the region.
